Electronic Waste Recycling (eWaste) Fee

Listing of Covered Electronic Devices (CEDs)
For Fee Collection Starting January 1, 2005:
- Cathode ray tube containing devices (CRT devices) with CRTs greater than four inches measured diagonally
- Cathode ray tubes (CRTs) greater than four inches measured diagonally
- Computer monitors containing cathode ray tubes greater than four inches measured diagonally
- Laptop computers with liquid crystal display (LCD) screens greater than four inches measured diagonally
- LCD containing desktop monitors greater than four inches measured diagonally
- Televisions containing cathode ray tubes greater than four inches measured diagonally
For Fee Collection starting July 1, 2005:
In addition to those CEDs listed above the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) added the following to the list of common electronic hazardous wastes (CEDs) subject to the fee.
- Televisions containing liquid crystal display (LCD) screens greater than four inches measured diagonally
- Plasma televisions with screens greater than four inches measured diagonally
LCD televisions subject to the fee include any device containing an LCD display greater than four inches measured diagonally (viewable size), that has television tuner capability that can process a broadcast, cable or satellite transmitted television signal.
For Fee Collection starting July 1, 2007:
- Portable DVD players with liquid crystal display (LCD) screens greater than four inches measured diagonally
