Hazardous Substances Taxes Facility Fee Registration Information

Who is required to register?

Facility registration information is sent to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) from the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC).

Under California and federal law, anyone who stores, treats or disposes of hazardous waste as described in the Hazardous Waste Control Law (Health and Safety Code, Division 20, Chapter 6.5) must obtain a permit or a grant of authorization from the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC).

The CDTFA is sent the fee information for registration, billing and collection.

There is no online registration with CDTFA.
